A newcomer to the promotion, however, certainly not a newcomer to the sport, featherweight standout, Benly Xamonty brings an impressive 8-1 mixed martial arts record into the cage when he takes on tough veteran Nick “The Wolverine” Walker on March 2.
An aggressive striker with a background in wrestling, boxing and Muay Thai, Xamonty has racked up five wins by knock out and another three by way of submission. Training with experienced grapplers, Sullivan Baccam and Eric Thavonekham as well as boxing coach, Jimmy Signs and Thai coach, Jack Thongsoum, Xamonty is preparing himself for anything and everything that will come his way. He’s not looking for any surprises.
“I’m always looking for a finish,” stated Xamonty. “I’ve never had a fight go to a decision, and I’m not looking to start now.”
Of course, he’s not exactly getting an easy fight. Nick Walker has gone rounds with UFC vet Jeremy Stephens and a bevy of other tough-as-nails competitors, none of which made it out of the cage without knowing they had just been in a fight!
Xamonty added, “I know that Walker has a lot of experience, and I like the way he fights. Our styles will make one hell of a fight and knowing that just excites me even more.”
Living by the quote, “Injury and death are just the price one pays for a good fight.” Xamonty believes that if his opponents are not in there trying to hurt him then they have no business being in the cage. He wants a good fight. He’s not looking for any easy paths.
Fighting for MCC, in his mind, will give him the experience that he needs to get to the top. He wants to not only finish fights, but he wants to do it in impressive fashion.
And with the mind of a true warrior and the skills to back it up, look for Benly Xamonty to become a force to be reckoned with.
