Mutapcic vs. Branson Voted 2009 Fight of the Year
 
The MCC fans have spoken in a two day voting poll that netted hundreds of votes, and when the dust settled, MCC Middleweight Champion, Elvis “The King” Mutapcic and Andy “Danger Zone” Branson received the unanimous decision for the best bout of the year.
 
Over the past twelve months, fight fans have witnessed some of the most exciting bouts in MCC history.  With epic battles like Joe Brammer vs. Michael Johnson, Josh Henry vs. Joe Morris, Daraughn Canada vs Nick Walker, Elvis Mutapcic vs Evan Marks, and Chris Mickle vs. Eric Marriott, voters agreed that Mutapcic vs. Branson deserved the honors.  Their battle was a highlight worthy three round slug fest with a razor close decision victory going to then, MCC newcomer Andy Branson.   The two have since become close friends and training partners.  They continue to push each other just as hard in practice as they did in their fight.  With the talent level these two posess, the sky is the limit.
 
MCC co-owner John Halverson recalls their fight. “Doing color commentary for Mediacom, I remember calling their fighting and thinking, man, this is one of the best fights I’ve ever watched….ever!  I was bummed it only went three rounds.”
 
2009 was also a big year for several former MCC fighters and champions that moved on to the UFC, WEC, Strikeforce, and Bellator.  It seems the list keeps getting bigger and bigger for MCC fighters progressing to the big shows.
