Midwest Cage Championship X: Vengeance

Midwest Cage Championship returns to the 95KGGO/Buccaneers Arena on Saturday, September 29, for another exciting night of professional mixed martial arts. MCC 10 “Vengeance” features eleven bouts including top fighters from throughout the Heartland as well as a featherweight title bout. In the five round title bout, current MCC Champion Will Shutt squares off against submission wizard, Jason Steger.

Shutt impressed fight fans during MCC 8 when he dominated his opponents in a four man tournament and capturing the vacant belt. Shutt, a native Iowan currently living and training in Oregon, has vowed to keep his belt regardless of the opponent he battles at Vengeance 10. His chosen opponent, Jason Steger, a relative newcomer, has trained for this event for several years and has confidently stated his confidence and ability to dethrone Shutt.

Local favorite Victor “Superman” Moreno, joins the fight card looking to extend a three fight winning streak as he climbs back up the ladder to the MCC Welterweight Title. Moreno, a former MCC Champion, surrendered his belt to reigning title holder Bobby Voelker when he suffered a jaw-breaking punch leaving him sidelined for weeks. “I’m completely focused on this fight and will not rest until I bring the belt back to Iowa” Moreno stated.

Fans won’t want to miss the professional debut of amateur fighter and cult hero “Primetime”. Longtime area fight fans will recall the string of fighters falling victim to this hard-hitting warrior during the run of the wildly popular Toad Holler Amateur Fight Series. “Primetime” has committed significant time to study his competition, immersed himself in training, and proclaimed he’s ready to enter the pro ranks, and will raise the level of excitement that evening. Renowned for one punch knockouts, “Primetime” faces off against established veteran Dan Houston. Experts predict this fight will result in one of the heavyweights face down on the mat.

Cole “The Apprentice” Jenett vs. Matt Scaggs, and Doug Onstot vs Chris Powers are two more crowd pleasing matches adding to the eleven bouts for the evening. With the wide mix of talent and interesting match-ups, the only thing that is certain is that anything can happen.

In addition to a great night of fights, UFC World Lightweight Champion, Sean “The Muscle Shark” Sherk will make a special celebrity appearance. Sean will attend the event, belt in hand, to meet and greet his fans and to share conversation and autographs.
Doors open at 6:30PM, fights start promptly at 7:30PM. Tickets can be purchased at the Bucs Arena box office, www.midwestcagechampionship.com , or by calling (515) 278-9757.
